Richard Castillo

Realtor® Richard Castillo radiates positivity. He wakes every day motivated by an authentic desire to meet new people richard_castillo_realtorand assist them in reaching their dreams. A master at unlocking life’s unlimited possibilities for himself and others, he is also not afraid to embrace the risks that come with great opportunities, and that makes him a perfect fit for a career in real estate.

A native of North Orange County, Richard grew up in Fullerton, where he forged deep and lasting connections with his community. While still a senior at Troy High School, he began his professional journey as a merchandiser for Nabisco, where he demonstrated exceptional initiative and was soon promoted to a position in sales. Richard excelled at meeting sales objectives for the 30 chain grocery store accounts he managed, and in just a few years, he sought greater challenges when he voluntarily transferred to a difficult territory where sales had steadily declined. He discovered that the diversity of languages and cultures there had fueled poor communication, and he set to work mending relationships and listening to the unfulfilled needs of his clients. He made himself available around the clock, and built a trust based upon understanding and responsiveness. He increased sales in that territory by more than 100 percent year over year, and was eventually promoted to management.

Never one to remain satisfied with the status quo, Richard sought his next challenges in real estate, where his gift for meeting people on their terms would be put to valuable use in helping them find the perfect place to call home. While earning his real estate license, he became a leasing agent at Skyline Luxury High Rise, where he quickly ascended to the position of number one leasing consultant. There, he gained practical experience in Fair Housing guidelines and became an effective contract negotiator. He also learned to meet the service expectations of discriminating clients seeking an elite living experience.

Once he had mastered these important skills, Richard again sought the road less traveled and courageously requested a transfer to a low-rated property. Why? “I wanted to build an understanding of a different clientele,” Richard explains. “I began working with people who had money problems and helping them find solutions for how to get qualified for a lease.” With his usual positive, can-do spirit, Richard became the number one leasing consultant for 12 out of the 12 months he was there.

When Nicolas Nicolaou met Richard, he recognized that his exceptional gift for connecting with people would be a great asset to his celebrated real estate team in Orange County. Today, Richard is collaborating with his colleagues at Nicolaou Real Estate Services to provide a flawless and joyful home buying or selling experience. “I love to connect with clients and help them work through the process. The reputation of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage holds us to a higher standard than most in our industry, and Nick attracts the highest caliber of professionals. His experience, connections and resources mean that our reach is longer and loyalty bigger. Buying a home shouldn’t be a stressful experience – it’s an exciting time in life! I thrive in this positive environment, and my goal is to be a light in the darkness, so clients can see their way to their goal. It’s a privilege to be part of this team.”

Richard has been training in mixed martial arts since 2006 and has achieved a purple belt in Jiu-Jitsu. A former competition fighter out of Triunfo MMA in Costa Mesa, the study of martial arts has taught him the self-discipline to boldly meet challenges and remain calm in the face of an adversary. These fundamental life skills are of benefit to clients seeking a confident, composed real estate advisor who will negotiate in their best interests while demonstrating respect for all parties.

A believer in the power of martial arts to change lives, Richard has volunteered his time to teaching MMA to challenged youth, giving them the discipline and tools to overcome difficult circumstances and embrace greater opportunities.

Richard is an upbeat person who loves adding new people to his wide community of friends. “I’m Richard Castillo,” he says. “I’m your neighbor. I want to shake your hand and get to know who you are. We’re going to build something great together.”
